Maddy Meredith
My name is Madeleine Meredith, I’m a multidisciplinary artist and art therapist based in Washington, D.C. Miles & Bear is named after our two mischevious cats. Miles has been laid to rest but his name and spirit is memorialized in my work.
I grew up in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by nature. My family loved traveling, and by the time I was 18 I’d spent significant time in Costa Rica, Chile, and Spain. My artwork is influenced by my curiosity about the natural world and the stories that accompany it. I’ve loved learning about mythology and folklore since I was little.
My artwork also explores themes of matrilineality, as my mother and nana taught me how to quilt, draw, and embroider. I’m passionate about reducing textile waste and use thrifted or recycled fabrics as much as possible in my work.

Textiles
Using reclaimed and thrifted fabrics when possible, my textile work honors craft traditions, memory, and the beauty of giving materials a second life.
Painting
My paintings explore color, atmosphere, and the natural world through a more intuitive and expressive lens.
